Abstract
Objective: To construct and validate an instrument for assessing adolescents' knowledge, attitudes and practices on syphilis. Method: Methodological study, developed from September 2020 to September 2021. Seven nurse researchers who had experience in sexual and reproductive health, adolescent health, educational technologies and instrument validation were included. They were contacted via email. The Content Validity Coefficient and McDonald’s Omega coefficient were used to analyze the validity and reliability of the instrument. The data were analyzed in the program Jamovi. Results: The first version of the instrument had 32 questions, 11 questions about the knowledge domain, 11 of attitudes and 10 of practices. All domains had a content validity coefficient greater than 0.95. The judges evaluated positively the set of items, since the coefficient reached 0.97. Regarding reliability, McDonald’s omega values increased after adjustments, reaching 0.955. Thus, the last version of the scale was composed of 30 items, distributed in 10 items for each of the three domains. Conclusion: The instrument presents valid and reliable content for use with adolescents. It can be used by health professionals to customize health care and interventions according to the demands of this public.
