Abstract

Soil and endophytic microorganisms are vital to the health and productivity of terrestrial ecosystems, performing functions such as nutrient cycling and the decomposition of organic matter. Endophytic microorganisms also offer protection and nutrition to plants, standing out in medicinal plants for the production of bioactive metabolites. This research aims to isolate and identify these microorganisms, analyzing their antagonistic activity against pathogens. Techniques such as the serial dilution method for soil and the Petrini method for endophytes were used. After purifying the colonies, they were identified using the microculture technique and evaluated for their ability to inhibit the growth of clinical pathogens through the antagonism test. The results revealed the presence of actinobacteria in the soil and fungi Aspergillus sp. in the leaf of Cymbopogon citratus, both demonstrating antagonistic activity against Candida albicans 14033, suggesting antimicrobial potential.
