Abstract

The teaching of local culture and history is a strong booster of individuals' critical sense and personal identity, as it allows them to reflect on their historical, cultural and local background. In this context, the intervention was guided by the theme “The lack of teaching about the history and local culture of Sergipe”. The project aimed to teach students at Escola Estadual Jacintho de Figueiredo Martins about these precepts through a board game. To this end, bibliographical research was carried out on the foundations of the project and the key themes of its development, in addition to technical visits that allowed us to better understand the community context and present the project. As a result, the intervention was successful in engaging and entertaining students, while teaching them about their historical past, geography, typical cuisine and local culture.
