This text proposes a reinterpretation of the will, a core element of legal acts and transactions, considering the diversity of communication by people with mental or intellectual disabilities. With a hypothetical-deductive approach, through Julia Kristeva's semanalysis, the closure of the General Theory of Civil Law to the symbolic is problematized, instead of a semanalytic approach. The variability of communication processes is noted as well as the legal validity of the volitional manifestation that is not accommodated in signs. In conclusion, the idea of relational autonomy stands out, emphasizing interaction for the processing of heterogeneous expressions of will.
