This article aims to analyse the uses and debates of the concept of time in research in Education. As a methodological procedure, a systematic review of the literature was carried out in the databases of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel and in the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations. Within the bases, the works were filtered from the descriptors: "concept of time" AND "education". Such a survey was conducted in November 2020, considering the period 1998-2020. Based on the material prepared, nineteen (19) Master thesis and five (5) Ph.D. thesis emerged with the theme of time that were organized and analyzed from the methodology of Content Analysis. As a result, we listed four categories: (1) Time and pedagogical work in Childhood; (2) Time and theoretical, historical and philosophical aspects; (3) Time and pedagogical work with Young People and Adults; and (4) Time and Teacher Education: research and production of the concept. Our results also point out that there are possibilities of expansion and the production of new incursions on the theme of time as a working space in educational research, as there are still gaps and potentialities of the concept that can be explored in future studies.
