Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic resulted in increased unemployment, decreased income for Brazilians and increased food insecurity. Social distancing measures have negatively impacted the economy and food systems. This descriptive and cross-sectional study aimed to assess the prevalence of Food Insecurity and associated factors in low-income families, and classify it according to the Brazilian Scale of Food Insecurity. The questions were aimed at those responsible for children enrolled in two day care centers in Cidade Estrutural, in the Federal District. Thus, it was observed that Food Insecurity manifested itself at a high rate in both day care centers, with mild prevailing, which reflects a fear regarding the lack of food in the future. Thus, food conditions were compromised, due to the difficulty of restoring income.
